Charles graduated architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, a Chicago institution known for its Bauhaus philosophy and expertise in high-rise design and construction. He is the Managing Director and owner of Collard Maxwell Architects, a practice that has been in business since 1947.

As an Executive Architect he oversees the delivery of 30 to 40 projects a year, many of them construction-side.  His focus is on the design and delivery of complex projects of all types, including:  Data Centers, Industrial, Mixed-Use Residential, Education, and Lifestyle Retirement projects.

He is a chartered architect, A+ member of the Australian Institute of Architects, and regularly contributes his time to different groups and associations, including presenting and tutoring the Practice of Architecture Learning Series (PALS) for the Australia Institute of Architects.

As a Designer Charles strives to create spaces that are functional and timeless, spaces that inspire people to do great work, live great lives, and think great ideas.

Katrin is a chartered architect, with experience in delivering high quality living/user environments from concept to completion.

A key component of Katrin’s work is refining the design brief and preserving its design intent during construction through careful attention to detail, consultant’s coordination, and contract administration.

Liaison with client to create a design brief, sketch detail and detail design, documentation for council, tender, and construction, liaison with consultants/council/client, contract administration and site visits, good knowledge of BCA, Australian Standards, Council requirements and ABIC contracts.

David joined the Collard Group in 1992.  Since then he has developed considerable experience in architectural documentation and has contributed significantly to the company’s documentation output. In 2016 David was appointed Senior Associate at CM+A

David has developed significant expertise in documentation and compliance. He is comfortable with the various codes and standards, including  the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, School Facilities Standards now the EFSG.

David plays an important role in quality management, CAD management and maintenance of the computer network system for the practice, and most importantly mentoring.

Susan has significant experience in Residential projects, Clinics, Government, Community, Education, and Places of Worship projects. A major part of her work involves research, thought leadership, and interpreting the correct design brief and architectural concept to be expressed through design documentation, approvals, and later construction delivery.

She has developed expertise in the area of sustainable design and construction, and is passionate about the Human Experience in the context of the Built Environment.

Susan is a regular contributor to our Lifestyle Retirement, Aged Care, and Dementia Care Research and Publications.

Susan is a thought leader on the topic of Build Environment, her responsibilities for projects include communication with clients, councils and consultants, producing project feasibility studies, design development, and documentation for approval and construction.

Master in Project Management, UPV & University of New South Wales

Javier graduated architecture from Universitat Politecnica de Valencia in 2012 and completed a Master’s Thesis in Project Management at the University of New South Wales in 2015.

Javier has a unique understanding and appreciation of contemporary architecture from training in Spain and Czech Republic.  He also brings expert knowledge of sustainable architecture, which was the topic of his Master's Thesis titled: "Multi-criteria Evaluation in the Construction Process".

Javier's design philosophy is to study spacial relationships and find the right contrast/balance that will achieve the desired outcome of a specific design brief.
